
Donald Chapman, Founder, and CEO has over 35 year experience managing high tech start-up companies and brings strong leadership in areas of team building and business development. Kent has assembled an international team of experts in the fields of optics, software development, hardware systems, mechanical design and regulatory affairs. This internal team is then augmented through subcontracts to other companies providing medical and spectroscopy expertise on an as needed basis.
Kent’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is composed of both medical and business professionals who have deep experience in the medical applications for this type of technology as well as their invaluable network into the medical profession. The committee consists of 5 members at this time but is expected to grow in the near future.
Earl Campbell MD, FRCS, specialty – plastic surgery
Earl Campbell received his education and his residency training through the faculty of medicine at the University of Calgary. In July 2000 completed a Hand and Wrist and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship, University of Southern California and Southern California Orthopedic Institute, Los Angeles, California.
Henry Kay MSc, MBA, FRCM (UK)
Henry Kay the past Group Vice President, Endosurgery, Boston Scientific Corporation, group represents about one third of the total corporate business, 30 years of experience in the medical industry in roles which include R&D, International Regulatory Affairs, Strategic Planning of major pharmaceutical companies, including Schering-Plough and American Home Products. Prior to joining BSC, Henry was based in the UK for five years as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Allergan
Ronald B. Moore MD, MSc, FRCS(C)
Ronald B. Moore is a native Edmontonian and graduate from the University of Alberta, receiving his MD with Distinction and First Class Honors in Research in 1986. He did his first postgraduate year in Vancouver and then returned to complete his surgical training in urology and research at the University of Alberta. Dr Moore received his PhD in experimental surgery and uro-oncology research in 1991 under the supervision of Drs Chapman and McPhee. He is currently a full Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Oncology, and an Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR) Senior Scholar.
Edward Tredget MD, MSc, FRCS(C)
Edward Tredget received his medical degree with distinction from the University of Alberta, Canada in 1976 and went on to complete his internship, general surgery and plastic surgery training from the University of Alberta in 1984. He undertook a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston from 1984 to 1987 where he received his Masters of Science degree in Applied Biological Sciences. He was awarded the American Burn Association’s Travelling Fellowship in 1988. Upon his return to the University of Alberta in 1988, Dr. Tredget became Director of the Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Unit and the Plastic Surgery Wound Healing Research Laboratory of the University of Alberta. The focus of their research includes basic science research relating to nocosomial infections, wound healing, hypertrophic scarring and gene therapy. They have several ongoing clinical trials and research projects relating to metabolism following burn injury, rehabilitation of the burn patient, wound healing and the potential role of gene therapy for the management of post burn hypertrophic scarring. Their group has received funding from several major granting agencies, including the Canadian Institute for Health Research, Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the International Foundation of Fire Fighters’ Association to support their work and have published numerous manuscripts depicting their activities. Dr. Tredget is currently a Professor in the Department of Surgery, Divisions of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alberta.
Jonathan R.T. Lakey PhD
Jonathan R.T. Lakey has had a long interest and research focus in cell and tissue preservation and isolation with a focus on insulin producing cells from the pancreas. Dr Lakey graduated from the University of Alberta (BSc, MSc, PhD) and received post secondary training in Indianapolis and Seattle before returning to establish his research program at the University of Alberta. Dr Lakey was also the Director of the Comprehensive Tissue Bank within Capital Health. Dr Lakey was also the Chief Scientific Officer and President for MicroIslet Inc, a public diabetes biotechnology company focused on Islet Xenotransplantation. Dr Lakey has recently accepted the position of the Director of Research and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of California Irvine.
Kent maintains a close working relationship with the National Research Council of Canada’s Institute for Biodiagnostics as they were the founders of the technology and continue to provide, under contract, medical, optical and technology consulting.
